Trail ZZ

Trail ZZ (Zig Zag) is a very short singletrack path of two switchbacks which provides a ridable route up from LNR (Libramiento Norte Road) to WFR (West Frontage Road) just north of the lower RR (Rojo Runout) + WFR trail junction. Useful for a shorter & easier climb up to WFR + RR Junction as compared to using either end of WFR (i.e. the north and south LNR + WFR Junctions). E.g. Trail ZZ is a easier shortcut up to Trails A, ED, Es, and RR from LNR. Handy for crossing from Trail TTT over to the aforementioned trails on the west side of LNR without having to descend on LNR to only re-ascend on WFR.

Trail PD

Trail PD (Pendiente Dorada (Golden Slope)) is a doubletrack and dirt road trail that runs approximately North/South on a hill of agricultural fields north and east of Huayapam. It connects Del San Fernando road in Huayapam (north, upper end) with Mexico 175 (south, lower end). Suggested usage is north out of the town of Huayapam on road Del San Fernando to its junction with Trail PD. Turn right (east) onto Trail PD for a non-technical run down to Mexico (Highway) 175. Stay on the west shoulder of Mexico 175 for a short (downhill) distance to the paved road, La Paz, aka Hauyapam-Oaxaca. Turn right (northwest) up this road to return to Huayapam….or stop and have a beer/meal at the restaurants by the two lakes just at the La Paz and Mexico 175 intersection.

Trail CM

Trail CM (Camino Milpa (Cornfield Road)), is a patched together collection of singletrack and dirt road segments that allows for west-east passage at a lower elevation the Road LNR (Libramiento Norte Road). Mainly used for return to Colosio Park in San Felipe del Agua from the Solidaridad saddle on the ridge Trail ED (Espina D (Spine)) when one wants to avoid the lower section of Trail ED with its climbs (e.g. north of Cruz de Milenio hill, back up to Colosio Park from Loma Linda).

The trail starts on the west as a road, Camino a San Felipe del Agua. Heading east and downhill from the ridge, this road soon turns into a singletrack trail after a short jog north and back south. This singletrack climbs up a very slight rise before leveling out and running along side a barbwire fence with concrete fenceposts. The trail widens back to doubletrack at which point one can stay with the doubletrack to head more downhill to the southeast, OR, cut onto a short section of singletrack that heads slightly north as it goes east. This singletrack dumps onto a dirtroad (16 de Septiembre) that heads downhill south where it joins with the aforementioned doubletrack option at a large concrete wall that encircles a cemetary. Going east (i.e. (Loma de Guadalupe, steeper downhill than west on 16 de Septiembre) brings you to the northeast “corner” of the cemetary wall. Trail MC turns north to follow a dirt road (Tierra y Libertad) uphill for about 300 meters. This road drops down to the west through a ravine and then up a short slope to a well-traveled dirtroad (also confusingly named Tierra y Libertad, not that you should expect to find street signs). Go straight across to a lesser-used dirt road that heads north up a ridge for a bit before dropping to the west to cross the next ravine. You’ll pass a recreation complex (on the north, a soccer/futbol field) before turning to the south where you reach the Trail Junction of Trail MC and Road LBR (Loma Blanco Road). Head north on LBR to (uphill) to reach Road LNR, or south on Road LBR towards Colosio Park, San Felipe del Agua.

Trail VV

Trail VV (Via Viguera) is a vegetation-tight singletrack trail hanging on the edge of the hill (barely) in poor condition. Several sections through ravines are prone to washout during the rainy season. Thus, expect hike-a-bike on some sections. Trails leads down into the town of Trinidad de Viguera.
