Trail E

Trail E (Encendedor (Lighter)), another member of The Smoking Section collection, is a glorified goat trail that twists its way down a ridge from Trail ML (Mechero Lado (Side Burner)) to Trail TTT (Toro Toro Toro (Bull Bull Bull)). The upper 2/3rds of the trail challenges with rider-shredding bush branches, a vegetation-covered tread that wiggles to avoid bushes and find a clear line down the hill. The bottom third is a narrow rut that runs through thicker vegetation before the worst-of-it-all exit onto Trail TTT. Consider this one the slightly shorter but rougher-round-the-edges little brother to its Smoking Section collection sibling, Trail T (Tostadora (Toaster)).

Trail DDT

Trail DDT (Derrumbamiento de Tierra (Landslide)) is a barely-there scramble on foot (withOUT carrying a bike) to get you from the ridge junction of Trail PAP (Paso a Paso (Step by Step)) and Trail BK (Burro King (Donkey Kong)) and Trail C (Coctelera (Cocktail Shaker)) to the other ridge (and trail – as yet unmapped/unnamed) on the north side of the ravine that Trail C (Coctelera (Cocktail Shaker)) runs down. If you’re on a bike, avoid. If you’re hiking, alternate routes are advised when possible.

Trail DDM (Doctor de Magnolia (Doctor of Magnolia)) is a crosscountry trail that starts out as Magnolia Road on the west side of Huayapam heading west before turning into a singletrack tread with a few minor technical sections. This track terminates on its west end with Trail CNP (Carretera a Ninguna Parte (Road to Nowhere)). Alternately, instead of taking the jog to the west over to the CNP when riding east to west on Trail DDM, continue straight south (downhill) on the dirt road that is the North/South segment on the western end of this trail. Trail CNP

Trail CNP (Carretera a Ninguna Parte (Road to Nowhere)) is a dirt road that climbs the hill and turns into a singletrack trail that follow the contour line for a short distance before turning back into dirt road headed back downhill. Boring but good for some climbing exercise and a better view of ciudad Oaxaca de Juarez. This track follows the dirt road on both sides but there are some shortcutting pathways on the west side’s switchbacks that may be more challenging then the dirt road itself.

Trail CDT

Trail CDT (Cuerno de Toro (Bullhorn)) is a short, gently-sloped, open singletrack path that runs along a creek to provide a more interesting shortcut from Road LNR (Libramiento Norte Road) to (the east side of) Trail TTT. This track maps the path on the east side of the creek but there are several paths twisting about each other along the creek, some of which cross the creek. There is also a Trail CDT entrance/exit on the west side of the creek on Road LNR for the pathways on the west side.
